TRC’s Team Kathy Rocks the Jingle Bell Run

For the third year in a row, TRC supported “Team Kathy” in the Arthritis Foundation’s annual 5k Jingle Bell Run held in Columbus, Ohio. The team’s namesake is derived from Kathy Adams, a member of the Johnstown community and extended TRC family. Kathy exhibited arthritic symptoms as early as 14 years old before she was diagnosed with the disease in 1974. Since then, she has undergone more than 40 surgeries – including both knee replacements, spinal fusion, toe-joint removal, and elbow replacement. In addition, Kathy was one of the very first patients to receive “plastic” finger joints in several fingers on both hands. In 2015 Kathy was named the Arthritis Foundation Columbus, Ohio Jingle Bell Run Adult honoree.

Team Kathy is comprised of 64 TRC Associates plus Kathy’s family and friends who joined over 2,000 participants to raise nearly $200,000 in the Columbus, OH event.

Nearly 50 Million people are impacted by arthritis in the U.S. alone. People perceive arthritis to be a disease that comes with age, but that is not always the case. “The work of the Arthritis foundation has advanced treatment options considerably since I was diagnosed. And early detection is key to preventing joint deterioration,” says Kathy.

100% of the money raised benefits the Arthritis Foundation.  The Arthritis Foundation uses our donations in 3 ways:

  1. Funding for research
  2. Supporting policy change
  3. Helping families impacted by arthritis
